Outing to Loseley Park – July 10th 2013

Tennis Court borderFor our final outing of 2013, 25 bga members travelled by coach to Loseley Park (nr Guildford) . This proved a very enjoyable and eventful day. On arrival we were greeted with welcome teas & coffee, this was followed by a tour of Loseley House, home to the More-Molyneux family for 500 years, our tour guide giving a fascinating historical insight into the house and estate – we even learned the origins of ‘getting plastered’ and ‘an arm and a leg’. Following a (lovely) cold buffet lunch we entered the 2.5 acre Gertude Jekll Inspired walled garden. Our guide, Loseley Park head gardener ‘Burney’ explaining in detail the features and challenges of the Rose garden, the Herb garden, the Flower garden, the Vegetable/cut flower gardens and the water featured ‘White Garden’ – so much information and detail to absorb in just one visit …

With time to spare, a visit to the gift shop to sample the famous Loseley ice cream was not to be missed before we boarded the coach and made our way home …

Thanks to Gloria for organising another great outing!
