Outings 2018

Three outings are planned for this year. Details are as set out below but may be subject to alteration. Application forms will be available at our March meeting and payment (cheques payable to: Biddenham Gardeners Association) is required with completed application forms to secure your place(s)

Pettifers – Wednesday 26th September,
Lower Wardington, Nr Banbury, Northants

This will be a coach outing. The cost (including travel and entry to the Gardens) is £22 per person. Coach pickup will be at Main Road/Nodders Way, leaving at 1:45pm (please arrive at 1:30pm latest to register attendance), we will depart for home at 5pm. The price includes an introductory talk and an accompanied tour of the gardens and tea & biscuits. No other refreshments are available

Luton Hoo – Wednesday 9th May

We have arranged for a guided talk/visit to the Luton Hoo Walled Garden, which is currently in the process of being restored after falling into decline in the 1980’s.   The visit will take place on Wednesday 9/5/18  for an 11am start.
The walled garden was originally designed by Lancelot Capability Brown in the 18th century, for  the former Prime Minister John Stuart, the 3rd Earl of Bute.

 

The walled garden is 5 acres in size and it is anticipated that the garden tour will take approximately one and a half hours.  A cafe is situated  5 minutes away and accessed through the woodland walk.

The visit costs £5 per person and members/visitors are to make their own way to Luton Hoo. Car sharing will be arranged if required.

Upton House (National Trust) – Thursday 28th June

This will be a coach outing, numbers are limited (33). The cost (including travel and entry to the House and Gardens) is:
NT members – £15 and for non NT members £25 (£10+£15)

House & Gardens: NT Members: Free, non NT Members: £10  Reserved tkts to visit the house and private dining room to purchase sandwiches/cakes with free filter coffee or tea. A personal guide on hand to help the group during our visit.

Upton House is near Banbury, Northamptonshire – renowned for its art collection which includes a ‘Canaletto’ and a ‘Stubbs’ together with rare Porcelain etc – see more at the NT website

Coach pickup will be at Main Road/Nodders Way at 10am (please arrive at 9:45am latest to register attendance) and will depart for home at 4:30pm latest. The price (to be confirmed) includes entry to the House with a guided tour and entry to the gardens – please pay asap to secure your place(s)
